Upper Arlington

The Upper Arlington City School District serves the entire municipality. The district provides an early education school, five elementary schools, two middle schools, and a high school.  

Upper Arlington High School serves students from the entire district and boasts membership in the International Baccalaureate program. The Upper Arlington High School mascot is the Golden Bear, which became the nickname of professional golfer Jack Nicklaus, an alumnus of the school.

Upper Arlington Schools construction update: "We are on schedule and we are on budget!" - UA Schools Superintendent Dr. Paul Imhoff, Ed. D. 

Upper Arlington public schools spend $16,065 per student. The average school expenditure in the U.S. is $12,383. There are about 16.1 students per teacher in Upper Arlington. 

The Upper Arlington School District ranks in the Top 10 in Ohio for fastest district growth. It's anticipated the UA School District will grow by 20% in the next decade. 

The Upper Arlington School District will move to full-time, all-day, everyday, Kindergarten for all students, at no cost, in the Fall of 2021.

In 2019, the Upper Arlington School District committed several hundred million in public and private funds to renovate and build new "future ready" schools. These include the Upper Arlington High School, and Barrington, Greensview, Tremont, Wickliffe and Windermere Elementary Schools.

Construction Schedule Updates: 

Scheduled to be completed and ready for Fall of 2020: Wickliffe Elementary, Greensview Elementary, Tremont Elementary

Scheduled to be completed and ready for Fall of 2021: UA High School, Windermere Elementary, Barrington Elementary

Design Features Summary:

Upper Arlington High School

Upper Arlington High School: 395,000 sq ft of learning space (100,000 larger than the old building). New secure main entry, Golden Bear Boulevard, multiple outdoor learning spaces, expanded arts and athletic facilities, and new UAHS stadium.

Wickliffe Elementary

Wickliffe Elementary: New building totaling 73,773 square feet (compared with 51,000 square feet in old building), 24 classrooms in six learning “neighborhoods”, New centralized media center, New kitchen/cafeteria common area, New outdoor learning space.

Greensview Elementary

Greensview Elementary: New construction and renovation totaling 76,000 square feet (compared with 49,000 square feet in old building), 24 classrooms in six learning “neighborhoods”, New, larger gym, New kitchen/serving area, New centralized media center, New outdoor learning space.

Tremont Elementary

Tremont Elementary: New addition of 7,000 square feet, bringing the total square footage for the building to 86,000 square feet, Renovation of the original two-story classroom building, Five new kindergarten rooms; 30 total classrooms in six learning “neighborhoods”, New centralized media center, New outdoor learning space.

Windermere Elementary

Windermere Elementary: New building totaling 73,773 square feet (compared with 55,000 square feet in old building), 24 classrooms in six learning “neighborhoods”, New centralized media center, New kitchen/cafeteria common area, New outdoor learning space.

Barrington Elementary

Barrington Elementary: Increase of 25,000 square feet, bringing the total square footage for the building to 110,000 square feet, Renovated kitchen/cafeteria common area, 36 classrooms in six learning “neighborhoods”, New centralized media center, New outdoor learning space and playground.
